Ce m\u00e9lange constitue un dialogue entre la peinture et les moyens d\u2019impression et d\u2019agrandissement.<br \/>\nUne courte s\u00e9quence de musique punk se d\u00e9clenche par surprise lorsqu\u2019un spectateur s\u2019approche tr\u00e8s pr\u00e8s du petit tableau \u00ab\u00a0Scala\u00a0\u00bb. L\u2019extrait musical, associ\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9poque o\u00f9 Nina Childress a \u00e9tudi\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019ENSAD, \u00e9voque une r\u00e9volte contre les id\u00e9es re\u00e7ues.<\/p>\n<p>Apr\u00e8s l\u2019ENSAD, o\u00f9 elle forme le groupe punk Lucrate Milk, Nina Childress int\u00e8gre le collectif m\u00e9diatis\u00e9 \u00ab\u00a0Les fr\u00e8res Ripoulin\u00a0\u00bb de 1984 \u00e0 1988. Ensuite, l\u2019artiste commence \u00e0 s\u2019int\u00e9resser \u00e0 la reproduction formelle d\u2019un objet banal isol\u00e9 comme dans les Tupperwares, les Bonbons ou encore les Savons, montr\u00e9s \u00e0 la galerie Jennifer Flay en 1993.<br \/>\nLe retour \u00e0 la composition et au corps humain se confirme en 1998 dans la s\u00e9rie des Hair pieces, o\u00f9 Nina Childress se consacre aux chevelures de femmes. N\u00e9anmoins, elle continuera de m\u00e9langer les styles de peinture et introduira parfois des vid\u00e9os et des bandes-son.<\/p>\n<p>La m\u00e9canique du regard et la perception des images occupent une place importante dans sa recherche.
